Our mission
FOLWAB is much more than a support program me for children who cannot afford to go to school. We are a springboard for forgotten and forward-thinking young people, equipping them to become committed leaders who will have a significant impact on their communities and institutions.
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." LZ
Make a meaningful impact
The Léopold Wa-Busungu Foundation (FOLWAB) is an independent non-profit charitable organization established in 2021 by the children, wife, brothers, sisters and friends of the late Professor Léopold Masumbuko Wa-Busungu K.G. to honour his memory and continue his legacy.
The seven points represent not only the seven groups of the Bakisi community in the Shabunda territory, but also the seven children of Mr. Leopold Masumbuko Wa-Busungu.
The tree is called Ibulungu in Kilega, Baobab in English, and represents Mr. Leopold Masumbuko Wa-Busungu.
During his lifetime, Mr. Léopold Masumbuko Wa-Busungu wanted other Ibulungu trees to grow like him by helping them as a teacher but also as a donor.
FOLWAB's mission is to continue Mr. Léopold Masumbuko Wa-Busungu's vision of mentoring young Ibulungu, who are like the small saplings that grow around the baobab tree.
